What is Grass Roots?The Ontario Grass Roots Program was established by Morton Food Service with the main objective of promoting and distributing quality food products from Ontario’s finest producers. We achieve this by supporting Ontario farmers and businesses - both large and small. Our partners share our passion for food and understand the importance of supporting local business and enhancing the economic, environmental, and social practices of food purchasing and consumption. Most importantly, this program seeks to increase the overall awareness and consumption of Ontario food products.
At Morton Food Service, we work with various vendors to ensure the expectations of our customers are exceeded each time they use an Ontario Grass Roots product.
Our close and interactive relationship with each vendor helps to promote consistencies in products, which in turn increases trust that these products will be of the finest quality and best value. Food standards in Ontario are among the highest in the world – a fact best exemplified in each and every product found within the Ontario Grass Roots Program.
Through this program we hope to contribute to the creation of sustainable employment within our province. Maintaining employment here within Ontario is paramount – it’s where we work, where we live, and where we eat.
A further benefit of the Ontario Grass Roots Program is the reduction of our impact on the environment. In purchasing products from Ontario, transportation requirements are decreased, thereby reducing the use of fossil fuels and lowering our carbon footprint.
